The cabinet doors above the stove have been removed and I dropped them off to be routed and have glass inserts made - 6 doors total. I was told by so many that glass inserts couldn’t be done and I should just get new doors. Well that wasn’t part of my plan, so I reached out to a friend and cabinet maker to route out the panels and prep them for glass. I took those measurements and had glass cut to size for the doors. They should be ready in a few weeks.

Next I purged the cabinets of old pieces from our life in Boston that no longer served us - chip mugs, cheap dishes and plastic ups, all gone to Goodwill.  I moved things around and began styling the dishes in the soon to be glass cabinets.

Currents state of affairs

Currents state of affairs

Everything has been ordered and some pieces have started to arrive. Speaking of, our new gas range was ordered a couple weeks ago and arrived last Saturday. If you caught my instagram stories you know that the gas pipe was too long for the range to sit flush against the wall. My husband’s uncle does this kind of work for a living and offered to help. Well, that turned into a gas leak. Sunday night we had the gas shut off to be safe. That move required us to get a permit pulled for the gas to be turned back on. I contacted my contractor and he sent his HVAC guy to repair the pipe and pull the permit. Now we wait for inspection and for the gas to be turned back on. That means it will be cold showers for a little while longer.

The kitchen countertops have been templated. The demo and install took no time since the countertops were in stock. The backsplash was removed and replaced with new drywall. Under cabinet lighting was also installed. We are on a roll!

ONE MORE CHALLENGE - The Family Room

Since our family room is open to the dining room and kitchen, it’s only fair the family received a few updates as well. So what’s changing? First we are updating our drapery panels. Mother and daughter duo Martha and Ash will use their high end drapery skills to make my panels with fabric from the Teresa Roche Art collection. Artist Teresa Roche’s textiles are created from her original art and printed with high quality commercial inks on linen and cotton blends. We found this beautiful blue gray abstract that works beautifully against our Smoke blue walls (Glidden). I was looking for something with a subtle pattern and a little color and fell in love with this fabric!

I will also be updating my elephant lamps with some new shades from our sponsors at Couture Lamps. These little touches will make a big impact to the family room.
