Lounge Reveal
This project was fun because I have not did a thing to my home in years, literally years. This is the room before, I wouldn't dare show you all the shipping boxes and homeless furniture pieces hanging out in here. But the room did have a nice color on the wall, it just wasn't what I wanted anymore.
My husband didn't see the need to paint the room but he never sees my vision until it’s complete. I've wanted to repaint this room black for the last 3 years but for what? We didn't have any furniture for the space or purpose for the room. So instead I used it for storage and closed the french doors - that’s until this week! One of my best friend’s and her family were coming to stay with us for a week and I just couldn’t have this room looking crazy.
This section was being stored in our bonus room with our exercise equipment. It just so happened that my husband wanted to the move the sectional the same week my friend and her family were coming. With some quick thinking and measuring I figured I could fit the sectional into this room - plus it gave me the perfect reason to paint!
Why black walls? Why not? This space is only 476 sq.ft and many would have been afraid to paint the room a dark color for fear of making it look smaller and too dark. But I knew the white ceiling and light carpeting would balance these black walls. Also accessorizing this space with white curtains and brass accents lighten the mood.
The total makeover included painting the walls, new matchstick blinds, curtains, pendant light (not shown) and pillows for a grand total of $236. Everything else I owed. I must say it doesn't hurt being a vintage dealer in times like this! And since this space is off the upstairs bedrooms, guest now have a sexy little spot to lounge before heading to bed. I so wish it was off the master. I already told hubby if I disappear for a while, you know where to find me!
