ORC - Week 2
It’s week 2 of the One Room Challenge (ORC) and some progress has been made on the to-do list! First my custom lamps shades have arrived and came out better than expected. It’s the little details like this that pull a room together. My idea for having the bookcase outfitting with a custom skirt got nix as I came up with a clever budget friendly DIY. I’ve decided to go with a more relaxed look and not do a tailored skirted table. Instead, I’m going to drape upholstery grade fabric over the cabinet and have a piece of glass cut to for the top to secure the fabric from slipping. Below is my inspiration for the look.
I’m using a fabric I already had on hand which happens to work perfectly. I don’t normally purchase fabric unless I have a project for it, but there was something about the texture and speckles of color that it interesting and easy to mix in with a bold print.
WEEK 2 - More Updates
While I’m excited about my lamp shades being done (things just take longer because of COVID), I’m also very aware that the pattern isn’t the exact same on each of them. I haven’t decided if this will drive me crazy or makes me love them more? I’ll know once the room starts to come together.
We did manage to empty out the room. The things left I use pretty regularly so they will stay until painting starts. I did narrowed the paint colors down to the following:
Paint Colors
I love selecting paint colors for clients but it’s hard when you are the client. I was looking for a purple with some pink and while these are all beautiful colors, some were just too pink. I would have shown you on the walls but they don’t read the same in person as they do on screen so I saved you the confusion.
Frambroise is the the winner! I used this color on a project this summer and loved it so much I wish I had somewhere to use it in my own home. Well lucky me!
This will probably be the most excitement you will hear from me in a while. I don’t expect to have much going on in the coming weeks since I learned yesterday that my rug is on back order until lmid/late November and my banquette won’t be here until December - double boo. But wait - did I tell you I’m adding picture molding to the walls instead of wallpaper? Yes, this is happening the last week of October and then painting will start. So there is something to look forward to after all.
